WORK and STUDY Program in CANADA
is for those individuals who wish to have their English Language/Cultural Training and Paid Hospitality Internship with Canadian companies.
Step UP to Work n' Study - Hospitality™ is an Academic program with a Practicum (paid internship), that offers multiple opportunities to link classroom learning to workplace experience. Canada’s leading Work and Study Program is one of the best ways to gain firsthand experience of Canadian culture and its people. Studying and working in Canada will give you options and experiences that are unique to local Canadians. What makes this experience so special is that when you go home, you'll have much more than great memories, new friends from around the world, and amazing photos of a beautiful country. You will also have an international work experience that will make your resume get noticed!
Academic Component: Intensive study includes English Language Training/Cultural Training, Hospitality Workshops (English as a Second Language based), and focuses on language acquisition and practice in the context of conflict resolution, cultural competence, problem solving, teamwork, handling criticism, adaptability, motivation, and leadership skills, industry specific terminology and practices.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
• Any person between 20 to 35 years old !!!
• Able to speak, read and understand English
• Maturity, Responsibility, Flexibility
Start:
At any time during the year (Classes in Vancouver start every Monday).
Registration to the Program:
A minimum of 12 weeks before the desired start date.

Two Program options designed to match most personality types and desired experiences:
GOLD PROGRAM:
• 6 and 12 month options
Intensive study at Vancouver campus+Ongoing class study during Internship Practicum:
6 month option:
24 weeks = 6 weeks of Study (240 hours) +18 weeks Internship Practicum (and 180 hours of in-class study).
12 month option:
48 weeks = 12 weeks of Study (480 hours) +36 weeks Internship Practicum (and 360 hours of in-class study).
• Internship Practicum arranged / provided in Resort locations (outside
Vancouver)
• Position type based on skills and availability
• Travel (from Vancouver to resort placement) arranged
• Accommodation arranged.
All students in Gold Program program will begin their Intensive study at the College Vancouver (province of British Columbia, Western Canada) Campus (6 weeks or 12 weeks, depending on program option 6 month or 12 month). After English classes in Vancouver, then participants continue their study throughout their program at one of the Resort locations. Students in this program are required to attend ongoing classes at our resorts during their Internship. Our World Class host resorts have been carefully selected to offer students the greatest Internship experience possible. They are located outside of Vancouver, in some of the most beautiful settings in Western Canada (province of British Columbia, province of Alberta) and offer students access to spectacular Resort facilities, as well as a unique Canadian lifestyle experience.
All internship placements are arranged based on language skills, general communication skills, cultural competences (all of which we assess ongoing throughout the program), availability of specific job types during the year, as well as how well students perform in their class. Previous work experience in hospitality is favorable for internship placements, but not mandatory/necessary.
We help students with all travel arrangements to their resort and assist in organizing accommodation at the resort in staff accommodation, a hostel or an apartment.
Internship positions: Chef, Bartender, Waitress/Waiter, Dishwasher, Kitchen Hand, Front Desk Agent, Receptionist, Retail Sales, Catering Staff, Coffee Shop, Attendant, Events Assistant, Activities Director, Spa Supervisor, Room Attendant, Housekeeping, Ski Boot Fitter, Ski Lift Attendant, Chairlift Operator, …and many more!!!
SILVER PROGRAM:
• 6, 8, and 12 month options
• Intensive study all at Vancouver campus (50 % of program duration)
• No classes during Internship (50 % of program duration)
• Internship Position is self-arranged (Vancouver or Resort locations)
All students in this program will complete all their Intensive study at our Vancouver Campus (50% of the Program duration), and then spend the remainder of their time at their Internship. Students in this program are required to secure their own Internship placements, but will gain insight into the local hospitality market through the College Vancouver Campus Interview and Job Skills Seminars.
Housing the College offers during study at Vancouver campus:
You will live with Canadian Host families. Canadian Homestay offers you:
* 3 meals per day
* Private room
* Preferences based on your requests
* Prior to Student Departure, we will provide you with the Homestay Family Profile, along with pictures of the accommodations and family.
Benefits of the Program:
Students will work minimum average of 30 hours per week and earn between $8 and $14 per hour.
Students who successfully complete all the requirements of their Academic and Practicum obligations will receive the following at the end of their Program:
* Work and Study Hospitality Certificate
* Transcript and Evaluation - provided by both your Academic and Practicum supervisor
* A Letter of Referrence from your Practicum Host company on company letterhead
